MAMAS!

December 5th, 2010 Posted in Uncategorized

For all of you that don’t know, Marian’s word for anything remotely Christmas-y is “MAMAS!”. If an item is red, it might be “SANTA!”, like the Rug Doctor was for the few hours it was in our living room. Marian is so very excited about

Christmas, even though she doesn’t quite understand what it is yet. I think I am just as excited7 as she is this year.
FzHa r x. A ,
Today we went to the Wilmingtongn g Christmas Parade, and it was fun!

I had to buy Marian a jacket today since it is 40 degrees out! She had on 2 pairs of pants too.

We got there about 40 minutes early and got a good spot. Marian spotted a blow up Dora on a cart and we got it for her. That kid loves her some Dora the Explorer.

Seriously. On the way home she was hugging Dora so tight I’m surprised she didn’t pop.

Finally the parade started and it was great! All the cars and floats were decorated in lights and Marian had a great time waving at all the people.

We couldn’t get the camera to take good photos in the dark so we gave up.

Papa, Nana, Battleships, and Ice Cream

November 22nd, 2010 Posted in Uncategorized

We’ve sure been busy!  Papa and Nana came for a short visit.  We went to the park to do some swinging and walking.

We went to Krispy Kreme on Saturday morning.  We go there every Saturday.  We like to keep it healthy.  Take a look at the faces in this photo.  Donuts are serious business, y’all.

We visited the battleship.  Here’s Papa hanging out and being a weirdo.

Will sort of took control of the camera on the battleship trip.  Out of the 100 photos he took, about 4 have people in them.  These two I have posted are the only ones with people we actually know in them.  Get out your magnifying glass, that’s Marian, my Mom, and me down there.  We had already escaped the battleship and were on to the vending machines full of animal crackers.  Marian threw up the animal crackers a little later.

This was Halloween night.  Marian’s second Halloween.  Also her second Halloween of having no costume or fun and festive activities.  It is my goal to change this next year.  My daughter does not need a stick-in-the-mud for a mother!  We will totally rock it next year!  Who wants to come?

We finally remembered to bring some bread with us to the park a couple days ago.  First we brought the bread to Greenfield lake and let me tell you, it wasn’t pretty. Approximately 10,000 ducks, geese, and other birds descended upon us and Marian was not too happy.  We took some bread to the more tame Hugh Mc Crae park and fed 5 loud Canada geese and it was a lot less scary.

This bridge here had been underwater for a while so Marian was excited to see she could finally cross it again.  And again.  And Again.

Today we went downtown to get some ice cream.  The Christmas tree was already up.  Will had the patience to stop and take a picture while I made my way to the ice cream shop with the Pearl.  You do not tell the Pearl there will be ice cream and the pause to take pictures.  That is just unacceptable.

A nice lady offered to take a picture of us today.  We now have a grand total of 4 photographs of us together as a family.

My girl is ridiculously cute.  Oh.  My.  Goodness.

After we ate our ice cream, we made our way back to the Christmas tree.  Whenever Marian sees something Christmas-y she yells out “MAMAS!”.  It took me forever to figure out she was trying to say Christmas.  Her excitement is contagious though and I’m very much looking forward to the Holidays.

The town we live in is pretty awesome.  There are many interesting places and events always going on.  I am really looking forward to the North Carolina Holiday Flotilla.

It looks like a fun time!

I am one lucky lady/wife/mama.

For My Dear Sister…

October 20th, 2010 Posted in Uncategorized

Hi Everyone!  I received an email from my sister today informing me that it was probably time that I updated my baby’s blog.  We have been very busy and I have taken tons of pictures but instead of dutifully uploading my photos, I’ve been been lazily watching TV and playing video games with Will.   So, here you go Heather.  I miss you and wish that you were in some of these.

We have lots of pictures at the park, since we go to one every day.

This was Will’s first weekend off in so long.  I don’t remember the last time we all had a weekend together.  It was fun!  The weather has been beautiful so we enjoyed lots of time outdoors.

Gotta love the geese!  They have no fear.

The pond still hasn’t recovered from all the rain we had a few weeks ago.  No walking on the bridge today!

These next photos are from my iPhone.  I finally went through the 700 photos and videos…

Oops!  That’s the adorable Kayleigh!  She’ll be in a few of these since we meet up at a lot of different places.

The picture above is in the toddler area in the mall, and the picture below is in Monkey Joe’s.

Wow, it looks like I have a lot more photos than I thought.  Marian is awake now and it’s time to head out!  I’ll have to make this post into a two-parter.

Bye!

Riverfest!

October 2nd, 2010 Posted in Uncategorized

Today we went to Riverfest in downtown Wilmington.  There were lots of people and lots of food!  It was nice to have Will take a break from work and finally get out as a family.

Marian liked her first taste of funnel cake!  We can’t wait for the county fair.  Papa and Nana will be able to join us in the funnel cake eating!

We watched some kids dancing and Marian even brought out some of her awesome moves.  My Pearl has rhythm.

We had a fun day but next time we’ll bring the baby carrier.  What a pain it is to navigate our BOB through the crazy crowds.

Doesn’t Wilmington look like a fun place?!  PLEASE VISIT!

Birthday and Other Stuff

September 14th, 2010 Posted in Uncategorized

I had a great birthday this year.  I was dying to find out what Will had gotten me. Boxes had been arriving at our doorstep for weeks and I was driving myself crazy trying to figure out what it could be!  It turns out that he was listening when I talked about how much I hated our bathroom.  He got beautiful pictures printed, a new shower curtain, a shower head, and some other stuff.  The bathroom is now beautiful!  I’ll post some pictures of it soon.  My husband is the best!  I also got my hair and make up done and walked out of the salon looking like the valedictorian of clown college.  After I got home and washed my face, I put Marian down for her nap and we watched New Moon.  Later, we all went out for dinner and came home and took some pictures.

I thought this picture was funny.

I can’t believe how much I look like my mom in this picture:

Here are Will and Marian playing my challenging New Moon board game.  Get it for your next family game night. (I kid.  It is terrible.  Obviously.)

This picture reminded me of one I took of Xandy years ago…

Xandy is still adorable.

Anywho, today we went to the splash pad with our friends Stephanie and Kayleigh.  We had the whole place to ourselves.

I had to put a picture of Marian and her mysterious ever-present snot.  Lovely.  I do not know why she is so snotty.

Stephanie gave Marian her own little bag of peaches.

They are so cute, aren’t they?

Love a good diaper wedgie.

Of course we hit the park afterward.

I guess that’s it for now.  I have a lot more to share but this is long and I want to play some Warcraft.

Thanks Stephanie!  We love hanging out with you and your little Pixie.

Jungle Rapids

September 3rd, 2010 Posted in Uncategorized

Today, after a not so successful trip to the park, we ended up at Jungle Rapids.  Our new friend Stephanie suggested it, and we’re glad she did!

Oh my, isn’t Kayleigh a doll?

Thanks for playing with us Stephanie and Kayleigh!

Out and About

August 28th, 2010 Posted in Uncategorized

We’ve been getting out and exploring a lot more these days.  We go to Greenfield lake often, but we still have not seen any alligators!

The scenery is stunning.  Everywhere you turn there is a beautiful bird, intricate spiderweb glistening in the sun, or lovely flower.  Our new town is truly amazing.

I still haven’t figured any tricks to take better pictures and I am much too lazy to read anything about it.  Maybe one of these days…

The park here is a favorite of ours since there is a structure that is small enough for the little Pearl to climb.

Today we visited Airlie Gardens.  It is such an interesting place and so incredibly beautiful.

This next part was the most exciting part for me!  When I looked across the water at this:

I thought, HOLY CRAP! That is where Dawson and Jen kissed for the very first time!  That is also where Pacey and his English teacher Mrs. Jacobs, well, nevermind.  Yes folks, Dawson’s Creek filmed in this very spot.  Not that most of you care, but I do!

We have been having a great time so far even though Will has been working so much.  He has a lot of stuff to do, but by October he will hopefully not be working weekends anymore.

I found a new place for Marian to play.  Only children 5 and under are allowed so I’m not too worried about her being trampled.  She still isn’t one to run and climb like all the other little kids.  She does like watching everyone though.  You can probably tell by her expression while sitting in the ball pit that she doesn’t get too excited by these sorts of things.

My next task is to figure out how to get videos on this thing.
